I’ve been dealing with this issue where I’m expected to do video inspection every vehicle. They say they give us all the “tools” to find work and it’s my fault I’m not utilizing their “tools” when I tell them there’s not enough work to make a living. I waste a good .5 doing thorough inspection

as a shop owner I did everything like you said and the hats and did it for over 30 years and I was born into it. paid all the technician's hourly and gave them a bonus when productive and therefore I received quality along with quantity and it is tough to work on all makes and models when you're independent. and we had a reputation that if we can't fix it nobody can. my dad started the business and 1962 and did not believe in flat rate because of haste makes waste we did what the Europeans did hourly and provide the tools and through that we were successful.

It’s just the mechanic that needs to be paid. All shops need to charge for inspections. Minimum half hour fee every time a car it’s a lift.

You know I have to say when we first met I was adamant about staying Mobile. Those views over the years have changed not because of anything that’s wrong with mobile it’s because I want something different. At least I think I do. So if the day comes where I do get a building and a higher employees you can guarantee that all of the conversations that go on between all of us here on this platform all of the good will be taken, and I hope I do a good job. I will strive to always find a great way to pay my technicians for those inspections, even if I choose not to charge the customer my technician will get paid for it. That’s one of the hardest parts if the shop owner decides to do something free, the technician should still get paid

Because they sit on there you know what and expect 👌🏻 If they had to do 1 other thing it’s too much and they want to put a guilt trip if everything doesn’t go there way and they have to sell and do there job. It’s not blame things don’t go as expected all the time especially if you want to present a good result. I could go on about this. But I’ll leave it here. Sounds like we need a company meeting. Are they going to take the cotton out of their ears and listen to the loyalty people who make them all their money to operate their business is the question. Maybe people don’t know their worth and stand up for their guys and will be bought out. There is more to this convo. I thought you are one of these guys. I thought it’s called diagnostic time btw

I agree, the industry is the issue. we need to unionize🤷♀️point blank, standardization of pay structure, eradication of warranty pay meaning dealers and techs don't get their pay cut for the same job, a real standard for quality of work and realistic time, etc etc. all the issues we face can be solved through being a collective. techs are just too pathetic to admit the issues and make a real effort into a collective change.
