I believe making his son successor was by far Cromwells biggest mistake. But overall I believe Cromwell was a fair leader, unafraid to take decisive action when the times required it.

The jews stuff was mainly conversos/crypto jews who got kind words from cromwell, permission to practice certain jewish burial rites with his protection and provided some financial aid. He was biased favourably towards the petition in Whitehall, emphasising the biblical importance of the jews and the fact that there was no parliamentary statute prohibiting jewish migration/return regarding the 1290 expulsion, which was a royal edict. He didn’t pass any legislation favouring the return of jews, because there was none prohibiting them in the first place.
