Her appearance and personality were so well received, however, that she became known as a fiery redhead in the aftermath of the mistake, even when her hair continued to be a more ambiguous shade of auburn in Resident Evil Code: Veronica. 🔥 Capcom decided to lean into the portrayal of Claire this way by Degeneration. Claire was given an unnatural hair color, 💆‍♀️ which may have suggested she dyed her hair after her escape from Rockfort Island and the Arctic to represent her transition into her professional life and fight against bioterrorism, 💪🏻 or maybe Capcom decided Claire’s natural hair color, like many anime and video game characters, was actually quite unnatural. 🪄 As a child, I dyed my hair crimson to look like Claire’s in Degeneration, but unfortunately, the color does not stick well to auburn hair and washed out very quickly! Claire’s hair in Revelations 2 would be similar to her crimson look in Degeneration, but would be toned down to appear more natural. After previously canonizing Claire as a redhead, the developers decided to continue with their original intentions of a brunette or auburn Claire with the release of the Resident Evil 2 remake.
