@samberesford_coaching: The hardest truth my ADHD ever taught me… 💙 For years, I thought I was living life. Looking back, I was running from it. I didn’t know I had ADHD. I just knew my mind never stopped. So I kept searching for something that would quiet it. At the time, I had no idea I was self-medicating. I wasn’t trying to numb ADHD. I was simply trying to cope with a brain I didn’t understand. I became the version of myself I thought everyone wanted. The loud one. The funny one. The one who never said no. The one who kept everyone else happy while quietly falling apart. I lived up to everyone else’s expectations… …but never asked myself what I actually needed. I stayed in places that drained me. I held onto relationships that were hurting me. I ignored the voice inside me because I didn’t trust it. From the outside, it looked like I was living. Inside, I was surviving. The hardest truth my ADHD ever taught me wasn’t that I was broken. It was that I’d spent years abandoning myself just to feel accepted. Understanding my ADHD didn’t change my past. It changed the way I see myself. And that changed everything. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve spent your whole life trying to fit in… Maybe it’s time to stop asking, “What’s wrong with me?” …and start asking, “When did I stop being myself?” 💙 #ADHD #AdultADHD #LateDiagnosedADHD #ADHDAwareness #ADHDCoach

From my experience i can tell you it’s a superpower if you learn how to use it. But yes when it comes to friends, relationships, anything social… you fit everywhere and nowhere, you uderstand everybody but yourself. It can drain your sould out of you sonetimes and you start asking yourself “what’s wrong with me ?” You can say you learned to control those thoughts but in reallity they never go away it’s the darkest side of ADHD.

This hits deep. It’s been a process finding myself again since being diagnosed and learning how to say no and put my needs before others. It’s a hard process trying to rewire your brain after years of spiralling and people pleasing and just shoving your worries to the back of your busy brain in survival mode! But we’re slowly getting there 🤞
