Delta did this to us with me traveling with my two & four year old children. Outrageous. New rule needed: no splitting up parents from children, and every other passenger must be moved to provide that assurance. Period!

So this has happened to me with my kids several times, but when we checked in they switched our seats sometimes I had to ask and point it out that we were split up but most of the time they already noticed and were working to get us new seats. Delta has always been super accommodating with seats and making sure we were together

We usually fly delta. Our last trip, they moved my husband and I on our return trip. I was surprised that this happened since we pick our seats ahead of time. For two adults, not a big deal. Frustrating but not life altering. But a four year old-that’s ridiculous. I’m sorry this happened to you!

Petty Betty here 🙋🏼♀️. I would notify Delta at the counter upon check-in that because of their actions you would like to know which flight attendant would be tending to your child's needs in-flight. And if they would be so kind and pass along a few notes you put together of do’s and don'ts for when your child screams the entire flight. Provide an extra change of clothes in case your child has an accident (always gets an upset tummy when they fly) since it will be difficult for them to advocate their emergent restroom needs. And lastly, you'd like to apologize in advance to the people around your child for the disturbance they will definitely experience for the entire flight.

For future—there’s a feature where you can choose what your upgrades can be. I request only a window or aisle upgrade. Because it’s not really an upgrade to go to a comfort plus middle seat. You may have to go on your laptop and not your phone app to put in that preference on upgrades. And, I’ve had to do it over again with each new flight (annoying).

This is why I get so annoyed when people always blame the parents when families are split up like this. Every single time my family has been split up, It is because the airline changed our seats.

You can uncheck to wanting an upgrade if it’s a middle seat on the app, but I don’t see where you can do it on the website anymore.

Try changing your seats closer to, and if you can’t, check in the second you can and try changing then. They often open more seats closer to.
