@navigatingsenrhodes: This is what autism regression looks like. The loss of words/skills that you once saw, once celebrated, once clapped along to, once looked over at loved ones and said look at what they can do and say! One day there and next they’re gone, no warning just a complete change. Heartbreaking 💔 #autismawareness #autismo #regression #sen #senfamily
I will never believe someone who says: “it’s genetic” Something genetic it’s from birth, not appears after 1,2 years!!

Same happened with my 10 year old he use to say a lot words . Was meeting his mile stones then when he was around 18 months after having his jabs it was like light switch went off . He’s non verbal now, been diagnosed with autism , global developmental delay and sensory processing disorder. But he been going to special school since he was 5 and the last two years he’s been saying alot more words and has come long way .

My little boy was exactly the same, could say mum and dad and a few other words and then one day nothing. Stopped listening to his own name and stopped speaking, he’d communicate by pulling me to what he wanted. He’s nearly 5 now and after such an amazing nursery teacher, and help at speech therapy he’s started talking again. It’s honestly heartbreaking going through it. I hope your beautiful little boy finds his voice again soon.🥰

Just to sprinkle you some hope 💫✨ my daughter AuDHD spoke clear words at age 11 months then at 18 months stopped completely and didn’t start again until 4.5 and the words were unclear and nobody understood her it was like being underwater and hearing someone talk. Fast forward to 8.5 and she’s the same as her peers in terms of speech, language and understanding. Sending you so much positivity & hoping your little boy gains back his speech 🩷

My heart goes out to you and your son because that must have been so scary. I really wish we knew more about regression - I just don’t understand how babies can be reaching their milestones and then like a switch those development disappear!

This is the worst part of autism. Being autistic is okay but this?! Absolutely heartbreaking and evil!

It’s heartbreaking. My daughter is 13 years old. She used to say all the early words and then around 18 months completely stopped.. unfortunately I can’t tell you that she ever started speaking again because we have never heard another word since 😢 I still live in hope everyday that I will hear her voice again ❤️

I have 2 ASD children who were delayed from day 1. I honestly think having a child regress is so much harder. We never had this happen as they were always slow to do everything. We got there eventually but we didn’t loose things. It must be so hard. You’re doing well

Awww, what a scrummy little boy 🥰🥰 They said my son may never speak. I paid for someone to train me how to do therapy at home with him every day and he is now talking - not perfectly but miles ahead of where I thought we might be. Give it time, hopefully he will get there! xxx

Mother of autistic daughter, teacher of autistic kids. You need to prompt him! Extend the first sound of the word (single word) and repeat it multiple times. If he attempts to try (doesn't mean he repeats) do what he wants. You need to be consistent. Play spin with him and every time you spin say "Ssssssssspin". Then you tell him say sssssssspin and try not to spin until sound comes out. Same applies to absolutely everything.
