@lucy.marie25: Yesterday, someone told my little boy, “Big boys don’t cry.” They probably didn’t think twice about saying it. But my son has. Since then he’s told me he can’t cry because big boys don’t cry… and he’s even repeated it to his baby brother. It broke my heart because we’ve spent years trying to teach him that every emotion is welcome. That crying isn’t something to be embarrassed about. It’s a healthy way to express feelings that are too big for words. I know not everyone will agree, and that’s okay. This isn’t about judging one person. It’s about recognising just how much children absorb from the adults around them. So we’ll keep having those conversations. We’ll keep reminding our boys that they’re allowed to cry, they’re allowed to feel, and they’re always safe to bring their emotions to us. Because I’d much rather raise boys who feel deeply than boys who feel they have to hide it. 💛 Has anyone ever said something to your child that really stuck with them?
