I love how honest, reflective, & authentic you are. I can relate to this so much. I had a 70lb weight loss and the way you’re treated from both men and women is wild. I found that men were nicer and women became more competitive/rude (just my experience not saying this is universal). I agree that’s it’s so important to not internalize outside perception and to stay rooted/grounded with your own internal compass🪽

What’s wild is how some treat us better and some worse. Women suddenly see you as competition and are nasty. I am 190lbs less than I used to be and it’s just so crazy sometimes even 13 years later, how that shift is both positive and negative.

Terminology can effect the way we think about ourself. think the words “beauty maxing” are hazardous to the state of mind because they literally mean maximize beauty. Whereas “glowup” is kinder, more gentle to one’s self. Beauty maxing implies an unattainable goal because the perception of beauty is always changing. Whereas glowup is an attainable state of personal satisfaction and doesn’t imply that there was minimal beauty to begin with.

I love this post! People look at me like I’m crazy when I talk about my own journey but it’s so true! I was always slim and then gained 40 plus pounds in my 40’s and suddenly was invisible. It was really psychologically difficult. Then when I lost the weight finally, I feel seen again and it’s wonderful. AND it’s hard not to live in fear of going back to being “invisible” again. I appreciate you talking about your experience. I need to keep my head on straight and not keep chasing the high of other people’s approval 🥰
