I like the books, I’m glad I pushed through the beginning bc I almost vomited a couple times from the descriptions 😂😂 I didn’t cry at the ending, I thought it was beautiful. It gives, beauty and the beast meets a walk to remember vibes.

I 100% like and agree with your classification of this as a love story. I was blindsided by the ending and ugly cried for hours. I HATE crying in books and typically don't get emotional in any romantasy book in general (because I know with it will have a HEA). BUT this duet made me really appreciate the artist range of Liv Zander. We got a HEA in the Pale Court Duet. We got tragedy and heartbreak AND a HEA in the Court of Ravens Duet. And then she caught all us dark-romantasy readers off guard and made us face tragedy and a BITTERsweet ending. Though it destroyed me, I will read anything she writes next, but maybe with my guard up. I think it will be interesting to see if she uses that against us in her next duet.

This book was incredibly written. I respect your opinion but I think it’s discouraging to readers. This is not a type of book I typically read myself, but so glad I did. It’s an extremely heartbreaking story but so beautiful. I truly believe it’s a must read and the author deserves more respect on this masterpiece. And not all stories need to end the same 🤷🏽♀️

It’s a GREAT series! Too many books are copy/paste right now and I loveddddddd being devastated by this series. I agree I’m not sure it’s a HEA but I loved how emotional it made me. If your squeamish though maybe skip it 😂

My argument against the alternative endings is that I disagree with you on “the message”. I actually think the message is to choose to love, even knowing its will result in loss, so to me he ‘has’ to lose her. He chose to have that one spec of his life with her, knowing that the pain would last longer. That’s why his choice to love her anyways is so beautiful.

I love your third option! So, don't get mad ...I found the message to be about living with grief. Love and grief are two sides of the same coin. Grief was what created the curse. Death had to learn how to grieve after great love. It is part of life. I actually appreciated that neither character had to change for the other and life went on without "magic".

It ripped my heart out and stomped all over it. I hated it. I loved it. As much as I wanted a happily ever after, the story wouldn’t have been nearly as powerful if she had become immortal or he had become mortal. As it is, I will still be thinking about this series years from now, when I wouldn’t have otherwise.
