@addairsfarmhouse: Every family has that one recipe that makes everyone stop and say… “Wait… you put WHAT in it?” 😂 Around our house, goulash always had one unexpected ingredient… pork and beans. It may sound a little different, but it’s the way I was raised, and it’s still one of my favorite comfort meals today. Simple ingredients. Full bellies. And a whole lot of memories around the table. Now tell me… what’s the one ingredient your family adds to goulash that everyone else thinks is strange? Or did you grow up eating it just like this? #RaisedOnThis #AddairsFarmhouse #Goulash #AppalachianCooking #ComfortFood

My nanny made the BEST goulash 🥰. She added just a little sugar, really tasty. Little story, my granddaddy told me when I was really little that it was called kushanihigh. ( coo-sha-nigh-hi). BTW, this was totally a name he made up just to hear me say it. 😂. He would say, Sug (shug, short for sugar) go ask your nanny to make us some Kushanihigh. Also, true story, I never knew that wasnt the name of it, until well into my adulthood! 🤣. To this day, I can’t call it anything else. And as my granddaddy passed when I was only 6, I hold this memory of him close and dear to my heart and would never change the name. So, in my house, this is good ol’ Kushanihigh 🥰♥️

That looks delicious! Ours was basically homemade mac and cheese (noodles, butter, velveta and milk) with hamburger meat, onions, and tomato sauce. Basically homemade hamburger helper, very kid friendly. Of course served with buttered bread and usually corn

Interesting. Fun fact. When I was little we lived in Germany. The Hungarian lady who was our neighbor taught my mom how to make goulash. Every Christmas eve we have it . Mom used ground beef, seasonings, green bell pepper, pasta. I make mine different and I use beef stew meat, red and yellow bell pepper, bunch of different spices and we alternate between rice and noodles. bowl it up with some sour cream on top.

our family recipe is essentially the same without pork n beans and with Worcestershire. Now days I add a can of kidney or black beans for nutrition and corn because my son likes it.
