It's always seemed strange; some people say they weren't treated badly and blah blah blah. And yes, I don't think they were treated badly. But definitely taking care of children and "exploiting" their mental capacities is abusive. Just seeing how practically all the wammy boys ended up, they died except for Near I think if they had done a good job raising them, BB wouldn't have become a murderer, or A wouldn't have committed suicide. It's clear that L didn't have a normal childhood, as he doesn't even have friends; he just works. Mello's behavior is very erratic. Near's pretty young too, and all he does is work as L; he doesn't have any friends or a partner, just work. It's even funny that Matt, who's not even 22, already smokes, but whatever.

I 100% agree that the kids at the wammy house are groomed and competed against each other in a difficult and stressful environment striping them from identity and self chosen purpose. But where and how did watari groom L? I've watched the comic that showed how L and watari began investigation and nothing implies that watari forced anything onto L, L would request and watari would provide im REALLY confused.
