Try not to worry. Get yourself a good endocrinologist. sometimes it doesn't interfere with fertility. You may not have big issues. You may need metformin if you want to try to conceive. There can be insulin resistance. The endo will advise.

Actually makes me so upset how many women deal with this and get no help. Try and get hormonal bloods done, no period means you’re not ovulating and there’s always a reason why that happens (high androgens, high cortisol, imbalanced blood sugar etc). Doctors never check hormonal bloods unless specifically requested it’s crazy. I’ve gone from no periods to a regular cycle naturally by working with my body. The pill unfortunately doesn’t give you a real cycle so it’s a waste of time anyway and actually boils my blood they use it as a “treatment”. One thing I can promise you is there’s always a reason, and being told “everything is normal” isn’t good enough! If you want to send me a dm I’d love to give you advice. xx

You don’t need to have cysts on your ovaries to meet the criteria anymore. If you not getting your period that’s is the main thing. Check your Amh levels and if there high that also an indication. You can get different medications to regulate things. I would ask for a referral for an endocrinologist. You know your own body so don’t let them dismiss you. Also probs not the best advice but tell them your trying for a baby and and then will do every test under the sun. Otherwise they will stick you on the pill and dismiss everything else and advise you to come back when you want to get pregnant.

TMI but I’m 17 I was told last week that they think I might have I was 11 when my periods first started then after my first one I waited about 3 months and it was like that every time then once it hit a year never had another one for 4.5years obviously being so young at the time I was so scared to tell anyone so I left it I finally told my mum sometime last year but I made her promise that she wouldn’t speak to the doctors over it cos I was so scared so a few weeks later after 4.5years I finally got my period back but honestly most pointless 2 weeks of my life because now it’s been a year since that so anyway this year I had to go into the doctors over something and my mum convinced my auntie to come in now my auntie is straight forward she tells it how it is so I was speaking to my doctor an I could hear my mum an auntie talking behind me then my auntie just told the doctors i wasn’t happy but honestly now I’m so grateful because I would have still not told anyone so the doctors booked me an appointment that day to see another doctor and she referred me for blood test they came back an the doctors called me said they wanted me to go for an ultrasound they think I have PCOS and my hormonal imbalance was extremely high and they want to put me on hormone tablets and that’s where I am today have to wait for an ultrasound hopefully it won’t be long for the ultrasound but I really just want a normal ultrasound on my stomach i don’t what to get a probe one I really don’t like the sound of it 😭 but I hope everyone waiting gets answers soon 🤍

I remember being told I didn’t have PCOS but all tests I had done were coming back that essentially I was infertile. Spent years getting my head around it. I’ve had two surprises that are now 5 and 18 months. After I had my first I was diagnosed with PCOS I had only male gps now have a female one and things are looking up.

Hi Lauren, I was told constantly there was nothing wrong with me since I was 13 eventually at 21 I got diagnosed with pcos after I seen an endocrinologist, I’ve been with the same endocrinologist for 9 years who has helped me regulate my periods which also helped me get pregnant with both my babies. Ask your gp to refer you to an endocrinologist pcos isn’t a gynaecologist issue which is where most doctors send you. Hopefully you’ll get some answers

I had the exact same thing happen me, I was tested for PCOS when I was 17 and was told I didnt have it. Spent all of my twenties on various different birth controls and the side effects made me cray cray. I got pregnant at 34 immediately after we started trying and were blessed with my little boy. so I thought there was no issues but after I had him my cycles went back to being irregular, fast forward to 2 years ago we started trying to expand our family and nothing was happening. It was very frustrating and stressful, I was referred to a private fertility clinic before last Christmas and I waa retested for PCOS now PMOS and sure enough I have it and explained everything I went through in my 20s and all of the symtoms I was dealing with along. I started metformin and thank god I am feeling amazing on it. We are still on our fertility journey and keeping positive. I hope you get the answers you need, keep advocating for yourself and thank you for highlighting this.

I had the exact same thing very little to no periods and went on the pill to help eventually came off for awhile and realise things were back the same no periods to very irregular.Talking to a girls who have recently been diagnosed with PMOS I realised I had a lot of the same symptoms weight gain acne periods and really heavy with extremely painful cramps I decided to go and get tested myself between blood test and internal exam my doctor eventually told me I do have PMOS the relief of being diagnosed and finding out took a weight off my shoulders. And now working ways to help and if it wasn’t for people talking about their experience, I would’ve never known so I do think it’s very important and it’s great when people are very open to these conversations and I really hope you get the answers you’re looking for. And keep sharing your experiences.🥰🥰
