This isn’t about being pro-Pax Silica or anti-Pax Silica for me. I’m not interested in immediately rejecting something just because the risks are real, or blindly supporting it just because the numbers look big. The actual conversation worth having is how we manage both sides so it becomes a genuine win-win for the Philippines instead of a zero-sum game…If the starting position is “reject period,” there’s no room left to negotiate those protections or shape the outcome. I’d rather stay in the space where we both acknowledge the risks and the potential upsides, and work from there. That’s the only way this stops being a shouting match and becomes actual problem-solving.

The country has no other major economic projects that will boost the economy. A lot of investors are already leaving and people are losing thousands of jobs. Pax silica is the only next big thing and probably the last hope of the Philippines economy. Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia are innovating and their economy is booming. A few years from now when inflation hit us hard, the only option is to leave.
