Currently in Spain for the summer and I’ve travelled to many different areas of Spain from Barcelona to San Sebastián and I can tell you that they don’t hate us!! I’m Mexican, but grew up in the U.S so my Spanish is funky sounding, but they could still tell it’s Mexican.

Never understood the h8 for Mexicans by any these colonizers. I watched a Spaniard tv hospital show where a character played by the beautiful Mexican actor Rafael Amaya (who played a surgeon), was nicknamed “Cantinflas”. I was like, “wtf!!”.

Same. They liked I was Mexican American speaking Spanish. Same in Paris. If I spoke English first they were pissed. But if I spoke Spanish or asked if they spoke Spanish they were nicer and more open to speaking English.

I been to Spain on four different occasions and they loved me (I’m Mexican-American, but I’d introduce myself as Mexican cause the US is ghetto LOL) I think a lot of people that have never travelled just like to hold on to false narratives
