So don't bolus. I've been a diabetic since 2002 (I'm 25 now) and my whole childhood my parents stressed me to eat faster and finish the whole plate because they bolused insulin for my meals.
When I finally grew up and got in charge of my own illness I promised to myself I wouldn't bolus, ever, so I don't put my life in danger in such a dumb way, especially when you're in unpredictable environments like restaurants or anything related to travel.
If it's absolutely necessary to bolus I'll do it with a small dose of 1 or 2 units max and I'll wait a little longer. Better safe than sorry.
Once I bolused 8 units of humalog (I normally never do that) after I got home from highschool and I thought that I should start being more responsible so that's why I did it. But, suddenly, I felt dizzy (from other reason than t1d or insulin). I vomited even before I put food in my mouth, I was litterally on an almost empty stomach, and then I went to the hospital because I couldn't eat in that condition. That was another lesson to me to stop bolusing, especially high doses.
