Becsuse flock is lying. “No plate, no problem!” Directly from their website. They are not “just an ALPR”

If they only read license plates, why are they on walking paths? Why are they on golf course courses? What license plates are they reading in those places?

in parking lots and around schools and businesses we understand. in neighborhoods and used to track people grabbing a bag of weed is gross overstep and means they need to be taken completely back until rational limits are put in place.

all of this should be gov owned operated and developed. a company like this should be allowed to research and start a business but then need to be sold to gov for any real world use

The problem is the way in which ALPR data is being used. It’s not being used as a response to a complaint or crime. It’s being used as the beginning point for new investigations based on people’s driving locations and routes. Beginning with 2027 model year vehicles, these cameras are going to be used in conjunction with your vehicles GPS data so not only will they see your car crossing state lines repeatedly, but they’ll know exactly which smoke shop you went to once you crossed. It’s about America becoming the same thing we’ve been told is bad by politicians, a surveillance state. This whole journey began in 2001, when people began agreeing to trade just a little privacy and freedom for “increased safety”, and the state has continued to slowly chip away promising safety, security, and anything else needed to justify it and we are too dumb to vote them out. Seriously, Americans see “Incumbent” next to a name and it’s like our memory and pattern recognition just shut off…
