I've found 24 hr gas station parking lots can be good for this in a pinch, too. I asked the clerk of one if it would be a big deal so I didn't need to do a multi hour drive tired, and them and the next shift kept an eye out for me until I thanked them and headed out 💖 Safe travels!

even just an overnight emergency, to not put yourself at risk. ive pulled over a few times and had to sleep. knowing how to get that good rest in your car/truck is important. always a pillow, and jacket on me. 🤣

I have tried to get my husband to do this, but he's too "fancy" without the bank account to back it up. I personally like to do this for road trips. the idea of paying for a motel just to sleep a few hours is absurd!

I have an inflatable matress and pump, a warm blanket and a small pillow stashed in my car, along with a phone cable and power bank (that also has a powerful torch and can be used to jumpstart the car if needed), a refillable insulated water bottle, a bowl and spare portion of food for my dog, snacks for myself, warm jackets (for both myself and my dog) and a pair of waterproof boots. I also have blackout curtains that can be drawn across all the windows and the rear windscreen, and a front windscreen blackout shade so I can have privacy if needed. As a woman who regularly drives long distances alone, I feel far better knowing that I have everything I need to safely spend the night stuck in my car if necessary.

if you don’t have everything you need to make it at least through the night in your car, then your car isn’t stocked correctly!! my mom says i “live in my car” but the shit in there comes in handy more often than not!
