Lemon Pound Cake Ingredients For the cake 200 g (1⅔ cups) all-purpose flour 1½ tsp baking powder ¼ tsp salt 180 g (¾ cup + 1 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened 180 g (¾ cup + 2 tbsp) granulated sugar 3 large eggs, room temperature Zest of 2 lemons 45 ml (3 tbsp) fresh lemon juice 1 tsp vanilla extract 80 ml (⅓ cup) whole milk For the lemon glaze 120 g (1 cup) icing/powdered sugar 2–3 tbsp fresh lemon juice Finely grated lemon zest, for finishing Method Heat the oven to 175°C / 350°F. Grease a standard loaf pan and line it with parchment paper. Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Rub the lemon zest into the sugar with your fingertips for about 30 seconds. Beat the lemon sugar with the softened butter for 3–4 minutes, until pale and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla and lemon juice. Fold in the dry ingredients in batches, alternating with the milk. Mix only until you have a smooth, thick batter. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50–60 minutes, until deeply golden and a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Cool for 15 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a rack and cool completely. Mix the icing sugar with enough lemon juice to make a thick, pourable glaze. Pour it generously over the cooled cake and finish with fresh lemon zest. Let the glaze set before slicing. Tip: Rubbing the lemon zest directly into the sugar releases its aromatic oils, giving the pound cake a noticeably brighter lemon flavor without requiring excessive lemon juice. #lemon #bread #fypシ #cake

Nine months after Nigerian cancer patient and social media personality Mensah Omolola, popularly known as AuntieEsther, d!ed following a widely publicised decision to reject a recommended blood transfusion, Jehovah’s Witnesses have announced a significant adjustment to their position on blood. AuntieEsther’s case attracted nationwide attention in December 2025 after she publicly explained that her refusal of the recommended transfusion during cancer treatment was based on her faith as a Jehovah’s Witness. Nigerians subsequently donated more than ₦30 million towards her treatment before news of her d!ath emerged on December 27, 2025. On Friday, September 18, 2026, the organisation’s Governing Body announced that individual Witnesses may now decide, according to personal conscience, whether to accept red cells, white cells, plasma or platelets from another person’s blood. Members may similarly decide whether to donate blood specifically for those components. However, the organisation stressed that its position against whole-blood transfusions remains unchanged, citing the biblical command to “abstain from blood” in Acts 15:20. It said decisions concerning the four components are now matters of individual conscience between each member and Jehovah. The policy adjustment has inevitably renewed attention on AuntieEsther’s story, which had become a major Nigerian conversation around faith, medical decisions and personal conscience. Her case remains part of the public record surrounding the debate, although the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ announcement does not state that it was made because of her case. #tre #foryoupage #viral #igboamaka #fyp
