@rosaleeonline: Replying to @Paris Campbell Grace I believe it makes a difference to talk about things openly and honestly as possible especially when something impacts a lot of people. What Perez Hilton did on live reverberates. Talking about it thoughtfully we can collectively process and learn more about ourselves. #perezhilton #lindsayclancy #mymom #perez #mom
The general public getting a real time view of the severity of mental illness and what it can do is what is so shocking I think. Same with Lindsey. Everyone is of the mindset that “I would never do that”. Seeing someone in a position where they have seemingly lost control is a very uncomfortable feeling because it poses the question, “could that happen to me?”

What I witnessed for the few seconds of seeing the video, was a man who was detached from himself entirely , which is what was the true terror of the clip. — When we see others go through our worst nightmares, we often try to distance ourselves from them because it helps the brain say “it could never happen to me, I’m safe”. Rosalee isn’t talking about what Perez Hilton did, Rosalee is talking about our response to it and why that response exists. When I saw the video I felt a visceral deep sadness. It reminded me of a person in my life who spent a lot to their time hurting others, including me, and he eventually had a break down. Not the kind Perez had, but still a break down. I still felt deep sadness for that person who was in my life, but also didn’t contact them due to the abuse they put me through. You can hold two emotions at once, two actions at once. That’s human.

Oh this is the kindest response to that video. I think of you and your words, your perspective, etc a lot. It's changed my whole perspective.

Seeing people be able to remove any empathy for someone is crazy to me. Yeah he's a bad guy but his mental health isn't related to that, also it's still very disturbing anyway.

Our mental health system is truly failing us. You are spot on about others continuing to hurt others when they are down or I find the opposite is true too and asking for help is met with toxic positivity. Being heard and understood isn’t happening. It’s heartbreaking.
