@moonlit_kit: Being chronically ill and disabled has come with a lot of HARD lessons and difficult times, but it’s also taught me a lot about how to be kinder to myself, how to treat my body right, how to hold firm in my boundaries and honor my needs, and to be grateful for things I once took for granted ❤️‍🩹 #chronicillness #chronicallyill #disability #disabled #grwm

I’m still struggling so much! Today I’m moving into a wheelchair accesible home where I can call for physical care when needed. But I’m feeling so guilty for not being able to do much and so I won’t allow myself rest and that leads to a spiral. Does anyone have any tips for me?

What do you use for makeup? I swear anything I use burns my eyes so badly. Even if it’s just concealer.

My support worker: "You never complain about your chronic illness." Me: "Lol, not true. I complain A LOT when it gets really bad." My support worker: "Yea, but that's specific issues. Bur never just in general, about living with chronic illness." Me: "Oh, yea... I don't feel like 'oh, why me?' because why not me? Could happen to anyone. Also, I've already gone through my grieving phase, which lasted over a year. And most importantly, I know where I came from. My symptoms may be severe, but they're currently diagnosed, managed and supported. I'm currently in the midst of an Asthma lung attack, which SUCKS. But also, I got Prednisolon (very strong anti inflammatory med) within a few hours from my GP, before needing the hospital, and before fainting from lack of oxygen. There was a time I would fully faint from lack of oxygen, hoping I'd even wake back up, because no doctor believed I could have Asthma. It was all chalked up to anxiety. That was terrifying! And that's just 1 of my 15 diagnoses, that were ALL diagnosed 2 decades too late. I'm currently just happy to be alive and supported. I got 24/7 care, diagnoses, meds, mobility aids, and social security. Young me would envy me so much. I came from so far."

all of this! but also, we need to not beat ourselves up if we slip and are unnecessarily hard on ourselves either. we recognise it and try to do better. ☺️
