Am I the only one who never saw Morgan as misogynistic but more as in trying to find a reasonable explanation for a theory? He was ALWAYS protective of the girls in the BAU. I think of it more as him having more reasonable/valid doubts about certain things or theories rather than bringing down women, he was raised by his mother and had 2 sisters and would do anything for them. He was never misogynistic, just taken out of context 🤷🏼♀️

I don’t think Derek is intentionally misogynistic. He was raised and surrounded by nothing but women. But that’s exactly why he’s so protective it starts to undermine women’s ability to care for himself. He says rude things, pushes too hard when he’s worried. I’m not even defending him, I just hate when people are so quick to make him seem like his evil then go idolize god damn Gideon or Rossi?? Idk ts pisses me off and feels like racism. Because everyone is so quick to call Derek a misogynistic bully but it’s literally pointed out, hitch doesn’t trust women as much, Gideon didn’t even care to learn Penelope’s name, and Rossi has multiple story lines where he’s hinted at being/had been a racist. Derek is not evil, he does not think women are less, he doesn’t think women can’t take care of themselves, he’s just loyal and protective to a fault.

Hot take: he’s not misogynistic. He was always just looking at every angle. the mother with a missing child (who JJ believed) was an alc0 holic who often went to the station every time there is a missing child. That’s why he found it hard to believe her. with Pen (when she went to a date and got sht) he was just genuinely concerned.

I HATE people who agree with Derek in the first scene with a passion. No, that is not something she "needed to hear tbh" it's unnecessarily cruel and literally against the whole point of the episode. The entire episode is her learning and growing through her empathy. She is not sucking up or being an evil person to want closure on a situation, and when she partly is, she understands it BY HERSELF, through her voicemail to Derek. And what DOES help her at the end of the episode?? BEING THERE WITH THE MAN!! Being there to watch him pass gives her that final closure because she's not doing it for herself, it's because of her care for him and for humans, THAT helps her grow. I love Derek, he's a great character, but HOW DARE HE try and dim Penelope's empathy by calling it boot licking.
