@billyloveofficial: This book recommendation is specifically geared towards the young men that follow me (although I believe everyone should read it). It’s called King Warrior Magician Lover by Robert L Moore and is all about rediscovering the masculine archetypes. I think our modern conception of masculinity has become a perverted form of what it was meant to be. On one extreme, we’ve overidentified with the warrior archetype, pushing it into its shadow side where strength becomes domination, confidence becomes arrogance, and courage becomes aggression. On the other extreme, there’s a growing impulse to declaw and castrate men altogether, treating traditionally masculine traits as something to suppress rather than integrate. Healthy masculinity isn’t found at either extreme. It’s found in the integration of strength with restraint, courage with compassion, and power with responsibility. In my opinion one of the best examples of masculinity is seen in the Lord Of The Rings character Aragorn. Wise, hopeful, responsible, loving and vicious when needed. If you’re looking for a place to start understanding true masculinity, I think this book is for you.
