Honestly, quicker way is looking what’s divisible by 3 evenly. I guessed 18 before I did any math lol

My thought process, what’s 11-7? 4, is there a 4? No. What’s 11+7? 18, is there an 18? Yes. 18 is the answer

Add the two equations together: x+y=11. And 2x-y=7. This results in. 3x=18. So x=6
