This is a video we made a couple of months ago, and I messed up. I had been to a charity shop and saw a pretty little mug and saucer that looked perfect for Jack. I got it home, made her a cup of tea and then she proceeded to drink from her POISONED chalice... Once I’d posted her totally-non-violent-and-extremely-peaceful teatime video, I started seeing a couple of comments about ‘lead’ being in the cup and do you know what I thought? I thought ‘no way! We’re far too health-and-safety orientated and boring’. But then I researched the mug using the stamp at the base and yeah - it very likely contains lead. I had no idea about the historical use of lead in ceramics. I tend to enjoy Medieval history more than other areas and Henry VIII would NEVER... or so I thought. Because guess what? HE DID IT TOO! So no excuses, I would have liked to have known better. I thought it was unique and perfectly parrot-sized so it’s really quite a shame about the whole ‘drinking lead’ thing... Anyway, I do repurpose content when I think Jack’s not in the mood to make a video (she’s currently sitting on some eggs - not ideal but we get through it), and although fleeting, seeing her with this beautiful little mug really compliments her own feminine etiquette. On a serious note (because this is serious) thank you to those who gently pointed this out to me, I appreciate it more than I can say because playing lead-roulette with Jack’s life is actually a game I’d rather not play. You’ll be pleased to know that Jack survived my assassination attempt. I watched her throughout the night and was very on edge (despite knowing she would likely be okay after limited exposure) because the parrotnoia was real and it got me bad. Jack said she’d like to donate the cup of death to Yoshi but we will instead be taking it to America with us in two weeks time, to gift to a kind and lovely long-time follower of Jack’s (Liz in Colorado). The mug would have a lot of sentimental value to Liz, who will be so happy to give it a new home. #parrotsoftiktok #birds #africangreyparrot #creatorsearchinsights
