@innerworldtherapy: What Most People Get WRONG about 9 Year Olds: Tricky Behaviors Explained by Child Development. 9 is a very tricky age marked by disequilibrium and deep into individual mastery territory while also dabbling in peer influence: the perfect recipe for all of that self-criticism in ages 6-8 to go outwards towards others. They do have increased independence and maturity, but are fiery in their impatience/persistence but so incredibly vulnerable from their changing bodies. You all really looked forward to hearing about this age!! #childdevelopment #childpsychology #mindfulparenting #thirdgrade #fourthgrade
any tips to get my 9 year old to stop getting out of his seat at school & making random noises? the lack of impulse control will be the end of me 🫠

So you’re saying that I’m not raising a narcissist who blames everyone for everything? Because some days that’s what it feels like no matter how many conversations we have about it 😭

Can you speak more about boys at 9-10 year old transitional psychology shifts. I struggle with my son being really difficult at times and intentionally pushing me to my limits and make me feel very triggered with blatant disrespectful attitude. He is neurodiverse and I guess challenging behaviour should be expected..

I feel defeated sometimes because I've worked hard to talk about my kid positively her whole life and it's sad to see the negative self talk coming out of no where, but I guess it's developmentally part of the age?

9 has been really challenging for me. My son challenges everything and he’s so dang emotional, at least w me. He seems to focus on the bad parts of a situation versus the good. He’s in the “what if” phase and it drives me nuts! Also, taking accountability is really hard for him at this stage, he def plays the blame game ugh

My 8 year old seems to have more in common with what a 9 year old is supposed to be experiencing - is this normal?

Would it make sense to have a 9 year old debate the answer no every time it’s given about everything? So like anytime we need to give my son a no answer he debates us about is this normal?
