Also when the store employee asks about the necklace he holds up the One Wish Willow and says, "I like this." He buys it instead. Not.."Nikki would like this"..."I like this." Bear was so self absorbed he couldn't tell Sarah had a crush on him...he didn't know his best friend had been hooking up with Nikki on the dl...they never would have lasted even if Nikki liked him back. That line in the car "you're the only person that I get to really talk to about this stuff.." she wants a genuine connection. Bear wanted the idea of being with her.

To be fair that was only because Inde already had then when filming. But holy shit, amazing observation, I haven't seen this anywhere yet and I've been watching theories for months. My favorite "he didn't even really know her" detail is that both Sarah and Ian immediately knew she wasn't on good terms with her dad, and Bear had no clue.
