@jennifer.lauren.rose: Shame and ADHD often go hand in hand. My ADHD has improved so much with the strategies I have in place, but there are still some things I struggle with, no matter how much I’ve learned to regulate my nervous system.
I am only a small number of texts/phone calls/emails demanding my attention away from a complete break down. I need some space and alone time but people just don’t seem to understand and mental health professionals always say something along the lines of ‘self isolation is bad and humans need connection’ and friends and family etc chase you if you don’t respond in a time they deem acceptable.

Yess to everything. 😍😍Especiallyyyy The alone time part. It’s so hard to get my alone time living with a partner. And although I never blame him for that, it does adds an extra layer. I’ve found I need to schedule it in. Which I also do with my texts. I schedule into my day “reply periods” That way I don’t go about my day feeling guilty because I know Monday-Friday from 3:30-4pm for example I’m replying to texts. This intentional replying period I set up for myself saved me. (Now the hardest part is remembering 🤣)
