@adivunsolicited: Haiti didn’t fall into poverty it was driven there by an empire that never forgave it for being free. From the 1825 French indemnity that drained 80% of its national budget to the 1915 U.S. Marine raid that siphoned its gold reserves directly to Wall Street, Haiti’s economic instability is the direct result of centuries of foreign intervention. Add in the destruction of its agricultural sector in the 1990s through foreign trade mandates, and the modern displacement of Haitian people becomes impossible to separate from the actions of Western powers. Now, as Temporary Protected Status ends and Haitian immigrants face GPS tracking monitors and criminalization at the U.S. border, the history is quietly erased. We enforce shackles on the victims of the very instability we helped create the ultimate cognitive dissonance of Western foreign policy. Haitians aren't criminals for wanting to survive. It’s time to talk about the historical debt owed to Haiti, not just the debt extracted from it. 🇭🇹 #Haiti #haitianhistory #ForeignPolicy #BlackTikTok #tps

Champ d’Élysée was made with Haitian blood and money. France and the Clintons the US owe Haiti reparations. With the right President- things can change.

The real price of rice fell by half enabling double the consumption of rice which benefited the poor. There are way more consumers of rice than there were producers so it doesn’t matter what bill clinton said on TV, the average Haitian benefited from cheaper rice. One could say they became dependent on imports but with Haitian population, they will always be dependent on imports. Haiti is a mess for a variety of reasons, insane levels of crime and lack of infrastructure. Cheap rice is not one of them. If cheap rice is bad, is donating free rice super abusive? Makes zero sense
