Black people DO die by suicide by hanging. CDC shows about 1 in 4 Black suicides is by hanging/suffocation. The rate has been rising. The confusion comes from our real history of lynching — 4,000+ Black Americans were lynched — so when we see a hanging today, many of us fear the worst. That history is real, but today's data shows most hangings are suicides, not murders by someone else. If a case feels suspicious, it should absolutely be investigated, but not every hanging is a lynching. May she rest in peace along with my brother that also took his life by hanging.
