It’s not dark skin representation that people are pissed off abt. It’s the fact that Hollywood will only cast dark brown Indians usually. Yes Indian entertainment industries not casting dark brown people is bad but the reverse is also the same because both can’t represent India’s diversity. Indians range usually are light to medium brown with medium brown being the most common. Light skin and dark brown skin isn’t in the majority which is why people point it out in both scenarios

it's sm worse on Instagram, cuz there was a short film about how Indian beauty standards affect men's ideology of women, and the main actress was dark skinned guess what the comments said... "there are too many blacks in Bollywood where is the light skin representation!!!!!"

indian people are very diverse, indian cinema doesn’t show proper representation at all ( even dark skinned girls lighten their skin to fit in). hollywood showing dark skinned indian people is so refreshing. i agree people are being dramatic, there is only a small amount of dark skinned actresses in hollywood but in indian cinema they are ridiculed
