Sunlight had already begun slipping through the curtains when Lena opened her eyes. She stayed still for a moment, listening to the quiet hum of the air conditioner and the soft breathing beside her. Miu was completely buried beneath the blanket. Only a small portion of her face was visible, along with a mess of dark hair spread across the pillow. "Bubbie." A quiet hum. "Miu." Another hum. "It's eight." Miu's fingers tightened around Lena's shirt. "Too early." "It's eight in the morning." "Exactly." Lena laughed quietly. "We don't have work today." Lena stared at her for a moment before gently brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "Come on. We should get up." "Noooo." "You haven't even opened your eyes." Lena laughed. Miu slowly opened one eye, stared at Lena for approximately two seconds. Then closed it again. "Still tired." "Of course you are." Lena finally sat up. The moment she moved, Miu's arm instinctively reached for her. "Where are you going?" "Bathroom." "I'll come." Miu sat up, eyes remained closed. She stayed like that for several seconds. "Are you awake?" "A little." "Open your eyes." "No." "Miu." "I'm doing my best." Lena shook her head, laughing as she got out of bed. "Come on." Miu stood, then immediately leaned against Lena who held her around the waist. "I'm awake." "You're practically sleeping on me." "That's because I trust you." Lena couldn't argue with that. She simply wrapped one arm around Miu and guided her toward the bathroom. Halfway there, Miu stopped. "Carry me." Lena looked at her. "No." "Please?" "You have legs." "They're tired." "You just woke up." "My feet are lazy." Lena sighed, then bent down. Miu immediately climbed onto her back, wrapping her arms around Lena's shoulders. "Happy?" "Very." "You know you're spoiled." "Who's fault is it?" "Unfortunately." Miu smiled against her shoulder. "Fortunately." By the time they reached the kitchen, Miu had finally become somewhat functional. Lena stood at the stove preparing breakfast while Miu sat on the counter, watching her with sleepy eyes. The kitchen slowly filled with the smell of pancakes and coffee. "Can I help?" "Can't." "Why?" "Because you're still half asleep." "I'm awake." "You almost put salt in your coffee the other day." "I thought it was sugar." "You've made my point." Miu pouted. "I can help." Lena looked over, Miu was holding a strawberry. "Put that down." Miu immediately ate it. Lena sighed. "That's not helping." "I was checking if they're fresh." "You've checked six." "They're all fresh." Lena couldn't stop herself from smiling. She walked over and gently wiped a tiny spot of flour from Miu's cheek. Miu looked up at her. "You have flour on your face too." "Where?" Miu reached up and brushed it away with her thumb. "There." Lena smiled. "Thank you." Miu leaned forward. "You're welcome." Then she kissed Lena's cheek. Lena turned toward her. "Was that necessary?" "Yes." "Why?" "Because I wanted to." Lena smiled before leaning in and stealing another kiss. Miu blinked. "That was mine." "I just took it back." "You stole it." "I'm your wife."
