I worked at a company who immediately fired a well respected employee, who put in a two week notice, that was the last notice they received for years. People just shut down their office and walked out when they quit.

The company I work for LOVES to fire people when you put in a 2 weeks notice. Knowing I’m quitting soon, I’m using all my vacation and when’s it all done and have another job I’ll be giving them a no call, no show.

Wow! The comments from all the Americans sure show how abysmal your employment standards are! In Canada— you give your required notice & your employer either lets you work it and pays you—or they pay you termination pay in lieu. As you can see from all the comments that the circumstances where the employee has no rights only creates a situation where they leave without notice. The USA sure is behind in basic human rights!!

yrs ago, I put a 2 wk notice in because I found another job. they pulled me in and let me go. told me, if I don't want to be at the company long term, they don't need me. they said we will give you a place to drop off my laptop and work phone. I said here take it now. they said we don't take that stuff here. I left it on HR desk,took a picture where I left it. and said it's your job to hand it over. I don't work for you any more and walk away.
