Been doing this for 50 years . Then I turn the hammer around and using another hammer I cut the round holes 🕳️for the bolts

I haven’t had to do that in awhile. I have a small ball peen hammer that worked perfectly

I had to make gaskets using that method 30 years ago. Works great in a pinch.
