This is why 1. I keep every email and make paper trails of conversations but 2. if someone approaches me with malice rather than constructive criticism, we nip that conversation in the bud. "Was it your intention to come off as disrespectful? I would love to discuss a better way to do xyz task but this conversation seems unproductive so let us set aside some time to privately discuss this in a calmer mindset" obviously don't do this if you know your boss will fire you and you NEED the job but if you have the savings or position to hold your ground, ALWAYS hold your ground or they'll walk all over you.

Privately yes, please correct me so I can work on what I need to. What I will not tolerate or be okay with is it being done publicly for all to see or being corrected while the ones in their friend group do the exact same thing and nothing is said. I will call it out every time and make it as awkward as I can every time. Guess we all gonna be embarrassed today.
