do people not expect disabled people to not have any form of self expression😭⁉️⁉️also its VERY inconvenient using mobility aids, I dont think anybody would pay the money for a mobility aid and use it if they dont need it

I’ve seen 2 disabled people now being HEAVILY harassed because people don’t believe them. One person with pots whom was struggling to apply to disability, now Zara Beth?! Disabilities are spectrums, you have it or you don’t still however what may be severe for you can be mild for another person. Everybody’s body is different in so many ways, that’s why it’s so part to find things that help let alone the source of a lot of these issues. Just the other day my heart hit almost 200 just from walking around for less than 30 minutes. However the other week I managed to run for the first time in 7 years and then even climbed through a window(I had to get into my own house and forgot the Key, I informed my neighbours it was me dw lol) during a heat wave with 90 something humidity. I haven’t been able to clean my room without help for 5 years now. Some days I can dance and jump around, others I WISH I had a wheelchair so I could go to the bathroom. Chronic illness is all over the place, I thought we all knew that😭

“Why do all the disabled people have coloured hair” have you considered that living with a disability that takes away so much of your free will, your right to choose (not being able to move some days, being limited by systems) is more likely to make you want to take control over at least something? It’s a small way you can reclaim your body, no wonder so many disabled people enjoy dressing alternatively and dyeing their hair. It’s one of the only ways they can exert control over themselves

"color hair = mental illness" when people are ostracized for being queer, trans, fat, poc, DISABLED (mentally and physically), neurodivergent, or just anything mostly harmless that society deems 'weird', they tend to gravitate towards alternative spaces that are more accepting and more tailored to their needs (people like them and people that support them will obviously understand what they're going through and not spout uneducated bullshit)
so basically y'all are so fucking mean that you've bullied people into making their own spaces and then bullied them for being in those spaces
Plus when you can't have control over your life and how your body acts some days, having control over expression, how you dress, color you hair, accessorize, can often help with feelings of hopelessness and depression.

Elio!!! ☆⋆。𖦹°‧★ :
People who are disabled are more likely to be mentally ill or neurodivergent because a lot of chronic illnesses are from your nervous system being completely shot over a long period of time. Trust me your body does in fact keep the score and sometimes that will show up as a chronic illness actually a lot of the times it does for example POTS which was originally discovered from war veterans with PTSD. As for being alternative yes a lot of disabled people are because either for the general expression of their body that they might feel out of control of in other ways or because of the political standpoints of being alternative because disability rights are something disabled people are still constantly fighting for.
