Muscles are specialized tissues in the human body responsible for movement, stability, and vital internal functions. There are three main types: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscles, each with unique structures and roles. Skeletal muscles are attached to bones and have visible striations; they are voluntary, meaning we control their movement for actions like walking, lifting, and facial expressions. Smooth muscles, found in the walls of internal organs such as the stomach and blood vessels, are non-striated and involuntary, working automatically to move substances like food and regulate blood flow. Cardiac muscle is found only in the heart; it is striated but involuntary, with special structures called intercalated discs that help cells contract in a coordinated way to pump blood efficiently. All muscle types contain nuclei, which control cell activities. Together, muscles work with the skeletal system to produce movement, maintain posture, and support essential life processes, making them a crucial part of overall body function and survival. #muscle #nurse #medstudent #medlife #anatomy
