I’ve been at OD for 15 years! My opinion, It’s a great company and I really enjoy it! Great benefit’s, I work 8:30-5:30 almost everyday. Great retirement and what other company matches me up to 100% of your 401k contributions for the year?? No one! They have paid over 1 billion in matches over the last 10 years. They put an additional 7,000.00 into mine this last March. That’s on top of 6% throughout the year.

I worked at old dominion a while ago. they didn't pay any overtime and my first raise was 10 cents an hr. I quickly found a better job that payed overtime after 8. my raises are minimum 1.30 a year now

I had left OD in Long Beach because of change of management they were laying of workers that had 10 plus years for no reason and they started cutting hours and converting driver to combo drivers to use them on the dock and shorten the forklift drivers hours and force them to leave because they weren’t even making minimum part time hours . They make money because they will cut their employees for their stock holders. And I know drivers that for the past couple of years they’ve been doing rotating sittings just to keep afloat the terminal , they acquired so many new facilities to reduce travel of freight and that caused less work for terminals because now the terminals were over staffed and accounts were being split to provide work for the newly open terminals that were like 20-30 min away from each other so in other words 1 terminal with 100 accounts would have to split their accounts between the neighboring terminals and that’s when it went down hill for the employees they started dropping them like flies.

Unless a driver is guaranteed 50-55 hrs! With OT after 40, trucking is not fkn worth it. Our bodies take too much of a beating. To be paid anything less is an insult. IMO.

I think it’s safe to say these companies all low ball their drivers and $1.30/hr is probably a ways away from what they could be paying. It really is a shame the amount of profits these companies report compared to the pay packages they compensate with. As a driver it’s important to be a thankful and grateful employee. It’s just as important to openly acknowledge the year over year profit vs compensation difference of the company you work for
