You need to preach this to our colleagues. I’m a cardiologist, recently became an attending. I trained during COVID. I saw older attendings, around your age push themselves to care for patients. A number of them died. After training for 10+ years, decades of call, working weekends, looking forward to retirement in a couple years, only to die on a ventilator before they had their chance. You never know what the future holds. Care for patients, do your time, but retire with enough time to still enjoy your family and your life. You made the right choice.
