I work in a Montessori preschool with 3-6 year olds. It’s their job to clean up most of the classroom. They wash their own dishes. They get their own snacks. They cut their own fruits and veggies. They sweep. They mop. They wash cloths by hand with a washboard. If children can do it without help, grown men can definitely do it.

if every person lived alone for minimum 1 year and had to feed themselves, clean for themselves, PLAN for themselves, pay their bills etc A LOT of eyes would be opened!

LMAO I'm the breadwinner in my house. I'm the only one working and it's been that way for a year and it'll probably be that way for a long time because my wife has ME/CFS. I also do all the cooking and all the cleaning and all the grocery shopping. It's overwhelming sometimes but I do it because I'm capable of doing it. Men who act like they can't do that or "shouldn't" do that because theyre "the one making the money" make me roll my eyes. they'd have to work either way. if they lived on their own they'd have not choice but to work AND do chores. Like c'mon guys

there is more than one way to financially contribute to a household. one way is to go work outside the home to bring in money so you can afford to buy things you need and want. there's also working *within* the household to *save* the household the money you otherwise would have had to pay someone else to come and do. and that labor that you're getting but not paying for allows you to have a lifestyle you otherwise could not achieve without massive expense, which is nearly always an even LARGER financial contribution to the household than your salary at your job. you're getting to live a lifestyle where your kids are cared for, you have home-cooked meals, your house is clean, your laundry is done, and the logistics of your appointments and socializing and all that is taken care of. if you had to pay for that, it would cost an OBSCENE amount of money, and the value you're getting from it doesn't suddenly disappear just bc it's your wife doing it. y'all actually think you're entitled to have all that for free AND have the person doing it be grateful TO YOU for the privilege of getting to do that for you?? YOU are the one who's getting the advantage from this arrangement. SHE is the one who is doing ten different jobs at the same time UNPAID.

And that’s WHY they pursue us. Because they don’t want to take care of themselves. Not because they like us.

I’m sorry, also big time bread winners that these men want to pretend they are PAY people to do what they know is domestic LABOR. Because deep down they know it’s a job they do or someone gets paid to do or someone gives up working outside for.

I am relatively a stay-at-home mother whose husband is the breadwinner and also does his own laundry scrubs the toilets and bathrooms takes out the trash and a multitude of other chores this idea that breadwinners need wives that are also maids AKA moms is atrocious

I make almost 30k more than my partner, and I still do just as much around the house as he does because the entire point is teamwork and stuff we don't want to do we have a maid for. you can't call yourself the breadwinner as a way to recuse yourself from basic home maintenance and also be unable to afford help around the house for areas you're neglecting.

I remember when I was a single mom and working full time, and saying to friends that I needed a wife. But I didn’t treat myself as the unpaid help at home. I told the kids to help and we just got it done.

Yikes nooooooo. I am the breadwinner in my house (I’m single but live with several family members). My family members and housemates are either elderly/retired, or have some disabilities that preclude doing too many chores consistently. So you know who does most of the chores? I do, because I physically can. Do I complain about it? Nope, because I consider myself very fortunate to have both the energy and physical ability to do what needs to be done. My family members do contribute what they can, I just do the most physically demanding stuff. And I can’t imagine feeling entitled to demand that other people just take care of everything for me.
