My point blank explanation is- if the eye pressure is too high, which means the in flow of fluid is faster than it can get out - it presses and damages the nerves, losing peripheral vision … which can slowly and ultimately lead to vision loss. We can manage the loss with drops or surgery but your call. The goal- slow the damage

I detest the air puff test that I’ve had done for decades because glaucoma runs in my family but I’d rather have a second of discomfort instead of lifelong permanent damage.

You didn't explain how you determine glaucoma if IOP is still normal? only my DRS photos of the optic nerve? or you do another tests?

We just had a patient we had been treating for POAG for years show up with ACG. She had two LPIs done and they were unsuccessful. Come to find out she has phacomorphic glaucoma and needed urgent cataract surgery. I watched her pressures climb from 47 to 60 in office after using multiple drops. It was scary 😳

Thanks for speaking on this! Just got diagnosed as suspect for glaucoma in my very early 20s. Luckily no damage but it was unbeknownst to me that my pressures were so high. Luckily I work at an optometry office. Glaucoma doesn’t discriminate!

You mentioned the damage is peripheral, and rarely do people think “nasal vision” as being peripheral - does glaucoma effect nasal peripheral first vs temporal peripheral vision?

Hi I had RLE on my left eye which has glaucoma. But they put multi focal lens, and I can't see clearly. What lens is better if I can get it replaced?

as a tech, thank you for explaining normal tension glaucoma! I see poag all the time, narrow angle my fair share of times, and i’ve seen normal tension a lot but when they ask I have never been able to explain it like i can for the other types. so this was super helpful for me!
