You’re 100% right? Legalism is “bare minimum” mindset. “What do I have to do get into heaven, or not go to hell” the question is not is this sin, but is this love? Agreed, our focus needs to be on serving Jesus and securing our personal relationship with him first. It is he who makes us righteous, Our rags are dirty. He is our garment of righteousness. It is not our works that cleanse us, but the works Christ does through us. It’s about humility. We need to stop taking credit for the good things we do. We also need to stop putting pressure on ourselves when we fall short. A righteous man falls seven times but keeps getting up. A wicked man falls once and stays there. The question to ask ourselves is “which one am I?” Do you ever notice that the closer you get to God the more you hate the world? That’s a sign that you’re on the right path.
