Mostly agree but also a "corrective relationship" (with a secure person) gives room for "corrective behaviour". As a FA, even if I communicate (which isn't easy for me but I'm getting better at it) to an anxious man that when there's conflict or I feel rejected I'll pull away, when it does happen they'll still start chasing me and asking for an explanation and it will make me want to lean into my avoidance even more. If I try to communicate maturely to an avoidant that their distance makes me anxious/feel unsafe and want to pull away, they'll still do it. I'm very self aware of my shortcomings and what I need to work on, but if someone shuts down or starts panicking every time I fall into old bad patterns it doesn't allow me to work on them. I feel like if I were to meet someone secure that's willing to hear me, communicate, make me feel safe and be more stoic about the connection I wouldn't feel the need to run from them as much, I could talk through my reactions and feel safe working on them knowing that they're giving me the space to do so

Not “being responsible” for other people is a very complex concept and we absolutely undeniably have some level of responsibility to the people we love. How that operates in real time is too hard to capture with words but I’d say overall we should extend ourselves within relationships as support, and as a means of offering our love to a capacity that allows us to feel safe. If you can’t heal relational wounds outside of relationships, then I’d ask, who’s responsible? I am so grateful to have had two very long corrective relationships. They showed up for me as their authentic selves and it healed me so much. I attribute much of my internal growth to those relationships. Both gave me space and safety in different ways that asked different things of me, and gave me something I was lacking in my childhood. Without them I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Your tone is very accusatory but you are explaining common relationship dynamics. Sometimes it takes time to learn each others language and we just have to be graceful and give grace so to avoid traumatizing each other.

Sometimes it’s the corrective relationship they lost or sabotaged that heals them…sometimes

This is 100000% my mom. After I asked her to move out of my home, she immediately started talking about finding a rich husband. She still wants to be rescued at age 60🤦🏾‍♀️💔💯🎯
