As a journalist, I have thoughts on this. I fully support the public’s right to record law enforcement and hold officers accountable. But accountability should serve a purpose. Filming inside police vehicles and provoking a confrontation over a parking lot—seemingly just to prove that you can—does little to inform or benefit the public. If you claim the role of a “journalist”, as some loosely do, use that access to investigate police misconduct, negligence, crime, or the issues genuinely affecting Erie residents. Journalism should challenge power when it matters—not manufacture conflict over a technicality and call it public service.

it's still a private parking lot in the sense if you park in there (even within the 60 minute window) and you go somewhere else (besides city hall).. they can have your car towed.

I had 3 uncles on the Erie police force and they aren’t all bad. It’s these newer guys w the egos and big brother attitudes. I believe NOONE should be able to be a cop that’s under 30 years old. Not enough experience and wisdom. And 15/16s of them don’t know our bill of rights or any amendments to them. Kids should never be policing adults
