Most people get into crypto with no plan. They throw a random amount in and hope the number goes up. Then volatility shows up, because that's what a new asset class does. A coin can drop 60 percent. It can also run 20x. Same feature, both directions. This is where it kills people. Say you make 5,000 a month and you spend 4,500. That's a 500 dollar gap. And you've got 30,000 sitting in crypto. You're primed to fail, and it has nothing to do with picking the right coin. One set of tires, one medical bill, one trip you already paid for, and you're selling at the worst possible moment, because a 500 dollar gap can't absorb any of it. Then the pain stacks up, they decide crypto is a scam, and they quit right before the part they were waiting for. Three steps to take that risk off the table. One, get your personal finances locked in. ChatGPT can connect to your bank and read your whole situation now. That launched May 15 2026 and it's on the Plus and Pro plans in the US. Two, widen the gap between what you make and what you spend. Three, don't break the golden rule. Never invest money you are not willing to lose 100 percent of. You're not going to make money overnight. Once you actually accept that, you start sizing for the distance instead of the sprint.
