The problem with criticizing anything about the show itself and the harm it inspired down the line is that some people immediately interpret it as a defense for pdfs, such as bizarre conclusion to jump to. I already saw a tweet with a good number of likes that said if this movie is a critique of Hansen, the producers should be investigated…

Good discussion of nuances in these comments and I’m glad for it, because my initial reaction to the first teaser was this film is NOT going to be some overly glorified “Sound of Freedom” hero propaganda, it’s going to be a jarring critique of all parties involved and how the show runners aren’t these blameless altruists, and a certain group of people are going to HATE it because they will claim it makes excuses for predators and mocks victims… but the perpetrators can still be villains and vile while also acknowledging the sins of the people behind the spectacle. It’ll be very interesting to see how audience react to that.

shows like this are different because they dont actually try to get pedos arrested. so much of the content online today is "we found this dude who talks to underaged girls..lets go beat him up" and thats it. nothing happens after and the dude goes on to reoffend. they didnt call the police or anything
