Last year I went from making good changes to be healthy to orthorexia to full blown anorexia. I’m in recovery now thankfully but it is indeed a slippery slope.

I had to unlearn the concept of “bad” foods. If your body can handle certain foods, have them sometimes just not all the time, eat your macros properly, and eat a bunch of micros. I’m not having McDonald’s every day, but a choice fast food every once in awhile isn’t “cheating” necessarily if I’m getting the nutrients I’m supposed to and not over consuming that day

as someone with an ED history, the “clean eating” movement really did a number on my recovery (and not in a good way)

pretty sure my mom has orthorexia and she passed that onto me (which turned into bulemia eventually) since i was very young. i wish she was able to heal like i have ☹️

Attempting to recover and going "Hm, I should probably eat healthier foods if I'm trying to get better" is SO tricky

I recovered from orthorexia 10years ago and every time I tried eating healthier after that was so stressful, only now after a decade my body feels safe with me substituting some products and finding new balance

I went from anorexia to an unknown issue that causes me GI problems. I mourn when I could not care about food. Anorexia though was 10x harder than my heath issues now, because at least the fear isn’t there anymore.

but it's so hard when you have digestive issues so you get anxious about eating

unironically after this was this guy who is way too obsessed with eating healthy to the point where he shames others for eating fast food right after this

Do not turn orthorexia into a trend because people are starting to want to eat healthier 😭 obsessing is bad, discipline is not.

Trying to recover while avoiding ortho is so difficult. I want to be healthy and have no clue where to start, half the people online have disordered eating so there’s no point in taking advice from them, the other half don’t know anything. I stick to like Abby sharp and Liam for my info so I don’t get too caught up in the habits of others

yeaaa that's exactly why I just tell people im just anorexic cause trying to explain the difference to people is so hard especially since im about a year into recovery so ive reintroduced a lot of foods that my brain has deemed as "unhealthy" so I do eat a lot more variety i used to but people can't seem to understand

I’m trying to eat “better” bc of chronic illness but I DO NOT want to relapse cause I’ve had Anna in the past and I’m trying so hard not to

oh I wasn't aware this was a thing, I got diagnosed with a health condition that requires me to limit certain food items and I started having an eating disorder at a young age, I may be using my health condition to justify the big restrictions I've put on my food

Like I seriously used to only eat 700 calories a day then work out for 2 hours straight lifting weights and doing constant cardio and let me tell you the heart palpitations were insane

I eat whatever I want and I've lost 60 lbs. The only thing I limit is alcohol and wheed because even a little bit will make me ravenous for the rest of the day
