In the first five minutes you could tell it's going to be really bad. Greta Lee's acting is TERRIBLE. The kids acted the adults under the table. The plot holes and how stupid they think we are in not understanding basic mechanics, engineering and hydroponics, let alone human biology is ridiculous.

This film feels like the original director just walked off set halfway through production, packed up the writers and crew, and left. Then an entirely new film crew stepped in, had a completely different vision of what the movie was supposed to be, and just went with it.

My biggest eye roll was they get trapped in the house by “sticky rain“ and figure out a way to accept it but when the daughter says she sees someone walking around outside they act like she’s crazy.

I hoped you’d never cross the line over into film snob. This is the equivalent of dying a hero or living long enough to become the villain. There is a very obvious through line of family roles and parenting and a fathers will to protect his family. The psychology alone pairs well with the hopeful drive of this film. There is so much to love. It’s insulting to hear this.

The ending feels super forced, like they only did it because they want to continue the story and make another movie. It actually had some potential at the beginning, which makes it even more disappointing.

Listen, was it amazing? No. Did I watch the whole thing still? Yes. Still kind of enjoyed the concept, I don’t do well with movies though that are just like “here accept this as the reality, but don’t think about it too much” when they introduce something but don’t really explain the how/why behind it (or even allude to it).
