Psychiatrist here. The meds and doses that were trialed are common meds that we use for insomnia depression post partum depression and a variety of conditions. There’s a lot of nuance when we prescribe. The meds were started at proper doses and likely switched due to side effects. The nuance becomes more difficult as we prescribe based on symptoms we are observing and symptoms reported… There is no test we do for psychiatric conditions unless it’s secondary to a medical condition. Let’s not bash on her youth, she is a board certified psychiatrist and did not start 12 medications all at once. Meds were trialed and discontinued

Physician here. This is a highly uneducated take on this. Did you listen to her testimony? You cannot treat for something that wasn’t present. “A scared little girl” and “only practicing less than a year” is also an insane take. She completed residency. She has BEEN practicing.

She should be scared. She needs to lose her license. She should not be practicing medicine. 12 meds and you didn’t do the proper research. SHE WAS IN YOUR CARE. A mother who cares about her children wouldn’t be taking them to the doctor the day of if she was going… do something like that. Especially in psychosis the detach from days before.

mind you there's a blood test that she could've put in for her to figure out what medication she would be compatible with

I'm sorry but seeing non providers here talking about medication is ridiculous Lindsey was assessed properly for mania she filled out an intake form which was about 20 pages. During their intial appointment she was asked murlipls questions - was she su cidal? Did she have HI? Has she ever had hallucinations or delusions? Has she ever had periods sith increased energy and euphoria? Lindsey waa not honest OR was not experiencing those syntoms at the time. Lindsey had previously taken Prozac and reported she has NO side effects.

Considering it take 3-6 weeks for most of those drugs to take full effect in your system nothing was given an actual chance to work before swapping to something else. This was a dangerous game to play and the prize was catastrophic

You do realize that a psychiatrist's "1st year" is actually their 5th, 6th, or 7th year due to residency and possible fellowship, right? It isn't like she's a baby doctor with no real experience. She graduated medical school TEN years ago.

36 is too young to have a medical career? What? lol that’s a early seasoned career age. She graduated Cornell in 2012 & and Med School in 2018… very common ages for successful careers.

This trial is about so much more than medication trials. It's about system failure, the persistent imbalance of male privilege in marriage when it comes to being an equal partner im childcare, and the public's general ignorance about post partum.mental health.

Im not saying she is but when we have pts coming in constantly and nothing is helping and they’re going different places to get prescriptions we would flag them as potential drug seekers. She would also take a medication for a few days or even a day or two before stopping. From experience ,my dr let me know that Prozac and other medications were not fast acting. When I was an strattera it took me 3-4months to notice a difference and I was aware of that.

I was very impressed with this doctor and her efforts to help Lindsey. Her timeline was clear and precise. She screened Lindsey for bipolar disorder early on, and based on her testimony, Lindsey did not meet even half of the criteria required for that diagnosis. What also stood out to me was that she continued caring for Lindsey even after Lindsey pursued a different treatment plan without notifying her first. She kept close track of the medications being prescribed between providers and made appropriate changes when Lindsey reported side effects.
To me, her testimony showed a doctor who was attentive, thorough, and genuinely trying to help her patient. She was a great doctor, in my opinion.

Is everyone forgetting the fact that Lindsey either self-discontinued the medications or decided WITH the doctor that she no longer wanted to take certain medications/to switch to different meds???

And if you look at the medication list it’s really baffling. Prescribing two benzodiazepines is heavily restricted bc they both depress the nervous system and have high risk of overdose. Combined with trazodone AND remeron, I doubt she was conscious.

Tufts could have referred Lindsay to experts above her. These doctors treated her symptoms not her root cause. Sad.
