@realafricastories: On 7 August 1998, bombs exploded at the US embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. I was in Nairobi that day. My cousin worked for USAID and was travelling towards the US Embassy when a radio message told her to turn around. For hours afterwards, I thought she had been killed. I still remember the explosion, the strange silence that followed, and searching for her at Nairobi Hospital. Twenty-eight years later, I still remember that day and the people who never came home. #Kenya #NairobiBombing #AfricanHistory #KenyanHistory #RealAfricaStories

I remember the day well.We were headed to town with my little brother headed to Kitisure to visit family coming from. Karen on Ngong road, headed for Dagoretti Corner. and matatus coming from town came lights flashing and horns blazing to turn around. I Thought the world has come to an end. My mother was blessed to be alive she had just walked by and took a Nissan alighted at Nairobi West. She heard a boom and she saw all the smoke. A close friend lost her mum. She worked for the American Embassy. It feels like yesterday. It remains etched in our hearts and thoughts.

Noreen, I was 10 years old and I had just come back from school. it was closing day. we went to school, picked our reports and had just arrived back home. we had put STV and we're just starting to watch a Soap opera. Then Buuuuuuh. and the entire house was shacking. we were living at valley arcade. I immediately told my younger sister, "that's a bomb". then I ran onto the balcony and saw smoke rising from the direction of city centre. Just as I was staring at it, the landline rang and it was my Dad who worked at Nyayo house by then. he starkly said, "Don't leave the house, I'm coming" and 10 minutes later, he was home. And the rest was history

Visit now! Ruto’s goons in their Subaru pickups put the British Colonial government to shame for extrajudicial killing. As part Kalenjin yourself please use your analytical intelligence to explain why Ruto and Moi have been the most murderous presidents since 1963. By comparison the Kikuyu Kenyattas and Kibaki have respected their compatriots. Have a look at BBC’s Blood Parliament - on YouTube.
