"He forced me to do it," he replied sarcastically. This man! I've wanted to curse him for a while. If Kiefer hadn't been in front of me, I would have kept cursing him nonstop. "Percy!" she shouted. "Jay Jay!" he imitated her voice. "Stop playing childish games, Percy. Just answer Jay," Kiefer ordered. He laughed for a moment before letting out a deep sigh. "Why am I being questioned here in the first place?" he asked, scratching his head. "I didn't realize they were talking until later." She glared at him angrily. "Is that all?" "That's all there is to it." He explained. So, Ares felt unwarrantedly afraid. Perhaps he thought my troublesome half-brother would betray his secret to me. But he knew nothing either, since it seemed that Father hadn't told him. My trip here was a waste of time. I frowned and collapsed to the ground. I felt like crying again out of sheer frustration. I was upset that Ares lied to me. I would have understood if we were still fighting—that would explain why he kept it a secret—but we're fine now. He promised to make it up to me, so why all the secrecy? "Percy..." I called out in a voice that was almost choking. "I want to see my dad." "Don't beg me." He mimicked my tone. annoying. "Let's keep this a secret. No one else needs to know." "Absolutely. And my death at the hands of Angelo will be a secret too. This time, it will be real." I frowned slightly. He's really very afraid of Koya Angelo. Me too. "What should I do?" There was a pleading tone in my voice. Percy quickly replied, "Talk to your mother. Convince her." I shook my head. How so? My mother is furious and refuses to budge. Even if I argued with her, she wouldn't agree. "What am I supposed to say?" "Tell her she's still her daddy's Labrador ." ( Labrador = love ) I wanted to scream loudly. I had run out of ideas, and I was still unable to get a satisfactory answer. Talking to my half-brother is exhausting. I said, "I want to hit you ," and he replied with a kind smile. Kiefer approached me and helped me stand up. "Best to convince your mom, Jay. If you go against her decision, you might never see your dad again." He said. I sighed heavily. It's not like I had any other choice. Trying to convince Mama is like punching the moon. She might just punch me back. "What else can I do? Let Batman handle it." Keifer smiled at me and held my cheek. I leaned my forehead against his chest. "I'm so, so tired." "I know. You can rest, but don't give up." I nodded slightly. He combed his fingers through my hair and kissed the top of my head. "What's with the flirting?" Percy commented, so I glared at him, and Keifer flipped him off with a middle finger in return. Percy winced immediately. My eyes shifted to the house door when I saw Honey walking in. She looked at all of us. "What's going on?" Percy glanced at her and immediately crossed his two index fingers in an X-shape. Honey rolled her eyes before sashaying over to Keifer. She held out her phone in front of him. "Answer your cousins' call. They need your approval." I looked at the phone she was holding and then at Keifer. "I-I think I need to leave." But the king quickly disagreed. "You don't have to. I can talk to them later." "What do you mean later? They keep pestering me, which is why I rushed here. Answer it already." Honey said, annoyed. I stepped aside a bit to give him space to take the call freely. He looked at me like he was silently apologizing. He took the phone and answered the call. I just watched him, but I couldn't miss Honey raising her eyebrow at me. She immediately approached me. "Don't be sad. He's just talking on the phone; he's not leaving." She teased. "I'm not sad."
